![]() Off the top of my head I believe the syntax is git cherry-pick a.b where commit a is exclusive and commit b is inclusive. ![]() You can cherry pick with a range of commits to make it easier. Then you can pull upstream and cherry-pick/rebase the commits onto your fork branch. What I would do is add multiple remotes to your local repo, 1 for your fork and 1 for the upstream. I think the best way to handle this is to not use the sync button in github ui. If you're forking for the purpose of actually making a different project then it doesn't really work. At least on github, I think the forking feature is more aimed at people who always want to sync their fork with the upstream so they can make changes and submit pull requests. It's probably a very basic question, but I have not yet stumbled upon a clear answer, so thanks for your help !įorking isn't technically a git thing, it's a feature that the hosting services (github/lab/etc) implement on their own.
